In collaboration with our sister organization, Mujeres Que Mueven, Tucan Learning Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit registered in the United states, operating all of our programs in Nicaragua. We provide early education and English classes to the greater Asseradores community. At Tucan Learning Center, we are committed to breaking the cycle of poverty through education and intercultural understanding. Our team is made up of dedicated individuals who believe in the power of education to change lives. We believe that education is the key to unlocking opportunities and creating a brighter future. OUR HISTORY
It all began when we made the decision to leave the comforts of our developed countries and settle in a rural community in northern Nicaragua. As foreign families raising young children in this remote area, the need for socialization and interaction became a top priority. Adequate schools and engaging activities, including grocery stores, are an hour's drive or a two-hour bus ride away. Not only did we recognize the need for our own children's continued education, but also for the community as a whole. In 2019, we launched a crowdfunding GoFundMe page, and with the support of people who believed in the possibilities and opportunities this project would create, Tucan Learning Center took flight. Our programs have persevered and expanded, now serving over 75 families.
OUR MISSION
Our mission at Tucan Learning Center is to provide access to quality education and opportunities for intercultural understanding with the intention to empower our community members to lift themselves out of poverty. Through our programs and services, we strive to create a brighter future for those in need.
